Chassis Repair

After stripping all the old sound deadening tar off the floor pans, it was evident that it also acted as a moisture trap for the recessed parts of the panels.

The driver's side rear pan half had a hole in it from rust so I cut it all out and modified a bug panel to fit.

Then I had to refit the seat rails, the previous owner had drilled out every weld through both pieces of metal so it was a lot of work to fit them back into the original positions, plug welding as I went!

Next job is to strip the pan and repaint using POR-15.

Bottom of chassis painted.

The rear torsion beam assembly stripped and painted and trial fitting of the seats before the top half of tha pan is stripped and painted.

Rear suspension arm painted

Pedal assembly cleaned and painted.

Finished! Well, almost, just the body gasket to be fitted in place

All the rear components cleaned up nad re-fitted

You can just about make out the new fuel line I fitted. 8mm bore in anticipation of a bigger engine, the stock line will become the return to tank.

You can just see the new line poking out above the original one.

Pedals re-fitted

I didn't strip the central tunnel as it was so good, a bonus is being able to keep all the stock insulation.

New puma adjustable beam stripped ready for real paint!

I took the opportunity to seam weld the shock towers for extra strength...

All fitted up with new ball joints...

Colour coded brake calipers even!
