Glaspar speedster hard-top replica development

The Speedster Clinic are developing a replica Glaspar top for use on other speedsters and my car is the first quinea pig!

First job is that it needs extending on replicas...

And the rear to be reprofiled

Final shaping to be done now...

These are a few of the bits I am having to hand-make. Posts for the side windows, hinges and openging latches for the rear 1/4 lights. The top itself is coming on well, the front part is being properly re-profiled before moulds will be taken.

I now have the hardtop back and am doing the final prep work and paint. Here it is after the first coat of primer

I also used filler primer to get rid of minor imperfections...

Now topcoated, time ot make the side windows!

Painted in Volkswagen black, it needs a bit of cutting once it has fully hardened but looks pretty good.

Opening 1/4 windows will be useful...

The (black) headlining has now been fitted and looks good! Lots of trial fitting of the rear screen has been going on, we are now ready to fit it permanently but need the tool to fit the rubber chrome inlay.

Opening 1/4 window finally fitted with stainless strip to hold the rubber seal in place.

Rear view of current status.

To all intents and purposes it is now finished!

Chrome inlay for the rear screen rubber nicely finishes off the rear. Rain guttering for the sidewindows has also been fitted, although I plan to remove this for polishing and then re-fix it and seal it to the top with silicone.

I'll try to remember to take a shot of the suspended headlining but that doesn't show too well in photos...
